Requirements & Preparation Tips

Follow these simple guidelines before coming in to ensure a fast, hassle-free photo shoot and guaranteed acceptance:

  • Wear Dark Clothing: Wear a dark or brightly colored top (e.g., black, navy, dark blue, charcoal). Avoid white, cream, or light grey tops, as they blend into the required white background.

  • Consider Removing Glasses: While some non-tinted prescription glasses are technically permitted, removing them is highly recommended to eliminate lens glare, frame shadow, or eye obstruction—the #1 reason photo applications get rejected. Tinted lenses and sunglasses are strictly prohibited.

  • Keep Hair Clear of Your Face: Your forehead, eyebrows, eyes, and cheekbones must be fully visible. Tuck hair behind your ears or tie long hair back so it doesn’t drape across your face or shoulders.

  • Facial Expression: You must maintain a neutral facial expression with your eyes open, looking straight at the camera, and your mouth closed. Smiling, frowning, or showing teeth is not permitted by government guidelines.

  • Hats & Headwear: Hats, caps, and headbands are not allowed. Head coverings worn daily for religious or medical reasons are permitted, provided your full face is completely visible without shadows.

  • Makeup & Jewelry: Keep makeup natural and matte. Avoid glossy or highly reflective face products, as studio lights can cause skin shine or glare. Remove large or flashy jewelry, large earrings, and face piercings if they cast shadows or cover parts of your face.

  • Tips for Babies & Infants: Dress babies in a solid, dark-colored outfit (avoid white onesies). Parents cannot hold the baby in a way that their hands or face appear in the picture, so we will guide you on how to support your child safely while keeping you out of the shot.

  • Know Your Application Type: When you walk in, let us know exactly which document or country you are applying for (e.g., Canadian (and most other countries) Passport, PAL, RAMQ) so we can instantly load the exact requirements for your request.
